CLASS DESCRIPTION:
So often in theatre we are told to leave whatever we’re dealing with in our personal lives outside the rehearsal room. Sometimes the stuff lingering on our minds is referred to as "baggage." This is a dangerous term. Our inner demons and joys and memories and frustrations and anxieties are the things that fuel us as artists and human beings. We should not be afraid to tell our stories. And there is no need to wait for other people to give us opportunities to make theatre. We can create narratives from our own lives!
In this session, we will do a generative exercises using personal memory to share and perform a brief story with your classmates. We will by no means come away with a finished product, but our time together will be a launchpad for you to start exploring and creating your own personal narrative onstage or screen, especially in these pandemic times.
